Shenanigans –
At 4:14 of the second period, J.J. Dickie and Mike Grimes clashed at the Brampton time line. Dickie landed a few more blows in the stand up battle and after they both wrestled to the ground, Grimes tried to make a comeback. Dickie got the best of Grimes. Each received 5 mins for fighting.
Notes:
At 19:58 with Pat O’Toole out of the net, Mike Hasen intercepted a Peterborough pass and streaked down the floor hoping to score on the empty net. Shawn Evans hustled back and made like a goalie. Luckily, Hasen shot wide. However, Brampton was awarded a penalty shot because Peterborough had too many men on the floor. Aaron Wilson took the penalty shot and could have tied the game. He shot wide left.
The penalties seem high, however Peterborough got four 10 mins misconducts plus a game misconduct to Steve Evans. Brampton got three 10 mins misconducts.
Late in the second period, Steve Evans picked up his second misconduct which automatically incurs a game misconduct. The misconduct call was undone chin strap after repeated warnings by the refs.
Both refs, Watson and Spies, kept this game under control when it could have got out of hand in the first period and early in the second period. Any after the whistle stuff incurred a 2 min penalty plus a misconduct penalty.
Josh Sanderson warmed up but did not dress for the game.
Terry Sanderson was presented with a signed #19 Brampton sweater for his role in coaching the Excelsiors to five Mann Cups, winning two.
Peterborough’s third goal at 4:00 of the second period will be shown officially on the score sheet as Leigh from Crosbie and Scott Self. It was scored by Crosbie and I thought it was going to be changed. It did not happen
