EDGE MAKES THE MOVE TO WOMEN’S LACROSSE!

Edge is very excited to announce its intentions to create Edge Elite Women’s Lacrosse Teams! These teams will promote female Canadian Lacrosse athletes and afford them the same benefits given to all our Male Edge Elite Athletes. As this will be the inaugural season for the Edge Women’s Team’s we are very much dedicated to working hard in order to put together the best group of female athletes available within Ontario. Teams will be fielded at U14, U16 and U18.

Edge has always recognized that the fundamental cornerstones of an elite lacrosse program is the people who are leading it. We pride ourselves on having a dedicated, invested and truly skilled coaching and managing staff. This is a program characteristic that we are determined to carry on in the Women’s program. Please read through the rest of the information and if it sounds like something you would want to be involved with, please be in touch with the contact listed at the bottom.

For those individuals within the women’s lacrosse environment of Ontario who are unfamiliar with Edge here is a short introduction to the structure, philosophy and practices of the Edge program:

EDGE stands for the intangible qualities that separate elite lacrosse players from the rest. Play with Edge and become a part of a winning program that dedicates itself to the preparation and promotion of elite Canadian lacrosse players. Edge teams consist of the top twenty student athletes at each age level from across Southern Ontario. EDGE is looking for student athletes who are serious about attending Preparatory College and or University in the U.S. on scholarship.

WHAT IS EDGE?

The Edge Lacrosse program was designed to groom elite lacrosse players for the next level of play at Division 1 college programs in the United States and Collegiate Lacrosse in Canada. The Edge Lacrosse program provides Canadian youth lacrosse players with exposure to the American game and the chance to get college scholarships to U.S. universities. Most importantly, it provides them with the opportunity to compete against American teams on American soil at tournaments. Not only does the Edge Lacrosse program produce elite lacrosse talent, it also prepares players for academic success. The EDGE program is targeting 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade student athletes. We begin working with athletes at this young age to prepare them for the academic recruiting process. American colleges and universities identify recruits for their programs as early as 9th and 10th grade. Edge recognizes that it is vital to get all players as much early exposure to these coaches as possible. Early identification provides our players with the best opportunity to attend the school of their choice. From the academic perspective the EDGE program requires that all players meet a minimum school grade of 75 %.

SCHEDULING

Each EDGE team will be attending a minimum of three top recruiting tournaments during the summer and fall of 2008. The EDGE program will take extreme care to ensure that there is no conflict with your local club team’s schedule, specifically Qualifiers or Provincials. We have carefully planned our schedule so as to avoid any conflicts with the upcoming Ontario field and box schedules. If a conflict should arise we will rearrange our schedule accordingly. Confirmed tournament schedules and details will be provided to those players selected to represent EDGE Lacrosse.
