Notes (The way I saw it):
A full house with lots of noise and cheering for both teams made this an entertaining game. This is what playoffs are about.
Tough to beat a team like Owen Sound by coming from behind. Owen Sound built up a 3-0 lead and led all the way. Whenever the Merchants came close Owen Sound answered with a goal in the next few minutes of play. Both goaltenders were solid in net. Owen Sound was able to get behind the Merchants defence a couple of times, which resulted in goals.
It reminded me of old time lacrosse after a conversation with Mrs. Jackson, mother of Marc and Daryl. The Jacksons run a farm and had to rush to get the hay in before the rain started and both boys were bailing until about 6:00 p.m. Then a quick pasta load and off to the arena.
Nice to see that the largest 50/50 pot of the season was won by a loyal supporter of the Merchants, Mrs. McAlarey.
Thanks to the small coaching, management, and training staff led by Steve McCarthy for keeping the Merchants alive for another season. Thanks to Nigel Rogers who not only runs the game clock but also the 30-second clock.
