Well some of you guys may be old enough to remember my old Redliner I used to write for Brooklin
Redmen games, my column for Sports Scene and my Merchants Meandering here's a new one, Wamp's
Wanderings.
Senior B player of the year has to go to Nanaimo's Kevin "suitcase" Shire. Any of you people remember
him. Well go to the BIBLE OF LACROSSE to see his own player profile just above the Senior B stats. Haven't
heard of old Suitcase since 1993. Those old enough like Shanny may remember him with Orangeville.
Those even older may remember him from 1986 playing Junior A for Esquimault and other Junior A
teams out West. He was a really good player. I like the story MemphisDave tells of "Suitcase" playing for
Esquimault and he was pissed cause he wasn't getting much power play time. Seems they had these three
gentlemen by the name of Tommy Marachek, and these two Gait twins. Old Suitcase thought that they
should sit out a gentleman by the name of Paul Gait to make way for him. The next year old "Suitcase" was
suiting up for New West in Junior A.
Well just looking through the West Coast Senior B stats and Mr. Shires copped the scoring crown out West
so some of you guys could possibly meet Old Suitcase at the President's Cup in New Westminster August
24th-27th. The man did have two junior a seasons of 54 and 55 goals out West and had 56 goals playing
Junior B for Orangeville in 1989 so he was no slouch.
Still on the west coast senior lacrosse league I see where North Shore Indians slipped into the 4th and final
playoff spot. They have three guys some of you may have heard of by the name of Chris Gill, Derek
Graham and Mike Moridian. Remember these guys? There all on the BIBLE OF LACROSSE too.
Well I've been up all night. Went to the Toronto Beaches playoff game last night my 6th game in 5 nights
but sitting talking to Tom Succamore, Dean McLeod and Wayne Colley never watched that much of the
game to tell the truth. Had to come home and work on some Akwesasne player profiles for the BIBLE and
do some emailing about lacrosse stuff and it's almost 9 in the morning.
Good thing I had that heart attack, stroke and quadruple bypass so don't have to go to work. Oh yeah for
those who were following my law suit with my old company over my disability insurance well we're going
to court over a $1.2 million dollar law suit so as far as I'm concerned I won. Won't be pushing the old
Wamper around anymore. Them seeing my ugly old mug in court is a moral victory for me.
Well got to go make some breakfast. See you guys at a lacrosse game somewhere and if you're at a
Merchants game tell them that Wamper sent you.
