Why I should not get angry at this Greek bigoted fellow?
I take pride in being a cool-headed individual who does not get rattled by amateurish verbal insults hurled at us from pea-brained border-guard-mentality trained people. Even when those ill-informed, doltish people attempt to speak out of turn, who see patriotic duty exhibited through propagation of "learned" slogans, they usually do not shake my will to remain level headed, however I must admit that the article published under the title "Call it by any other name, FYROM will be Macedonia" by Andy Dabilis on April 26th in the European Weakly magazine, caused me to momentarily stop and recalibrate my perimeters of proper and acceptable candor.
My immediate reaction was one of a momentarily stunned fighter who had been punched between the eyes with a straight stiff jab and whose faculty, in an instant, has been turned off rather than the rational summation of the occurring situation: the animalistic instinct kicking in to fight and brawlto the endthe enemy in front. I must admit though, it is a good thing that the "delete" key is so easily accessible and quite handy for times like this. Now, letīs dissect the article and sort things out:
In the first few passages Mr. Dabilis makes two correct observations:
(1)
"Like it or not, Greece will eventually have to live with knowing that by whatever name it agrees to accept for its northern neighbour - which it calls FYROM, but most of the rest of the world calls Macedonia - the only name it will be known by is Macedonia," and
(2)
"Greece was hoping that after it had been either ignored or sold down the river by the administration of former US president George W. Bush that it would do better under new President Barack Obama - who uses the name Macedonia."
Wait and see; your worst nightmare is yet to come. When Macedonia survives this freakish Greek invented problem and joins the European community as an equal and fully accredited member, you will witness an irrepressible grassroots upheaval in Greece by all long suppressed ethnic groups like Vlachs, Albanians, Romas and definitely, the ethnic Turks. You can no longer hide your racist policies behind convoluted text interpretations that suit your twisted moronic logic.]
As I read these lines, I thought to myself this must be a well-reasoned and modern-thinking Greek like many progressive Greeks today, who openly support the ethnic Macedonians living in Greece in their plight to secure for themselves recognition by the Greek government as ethnic Macedonians who deserve to enjoy the basic human rights guaranteed by the European constitution. (I solute and embrace those Greeks as my brothers). However, I did not have to wait too long to see the real and ugly head of this Greek KKK equivalent, who was menially incapable to suppress the venom that hotly percolates underneath his skin, anytime the name of the Macedonians enters into the debate.
Let it be known that Greeks do not give a hoot for the name "Macedonia". The name is just the ploy to manipulate their hidden objectivecomplete and unequivocal elimination of the ethnic Macedonians and anything else associated with them. They can easily forego the name in a heartbeat, but what they cannot forgo and cannot detach themselves from, is the fear embedded deeply into their bones that comes as a ghostly reminder of the existence of people who live amongst them and dare to call themselves ethnic Macedonians.
That is the crux of the problemthe unexpected, persistently wrenching tormentfor which the Greeks, having gone too far with their maniacal miscalculations, cannot now, find a suitable face saving solution. When one invents a lie to cover up another lie, then, that individuallike a flailing person in quick sandsinks deeper and deeper into his own created sinkhole. The existence of the ethnic Macedonians on both sides of the Greek border, in the Republic of Macedonia and within Greece itself and on every continent of the planet, I may add, is a double edged sword that magnifies the already complicated situation for the Greeks; to silence or wipe out all the Macedonianseven for experienced people like you Greeksis an impossible task. The European parliamentarians should take a whiff of this fact too.
You see dear sophisticated Europeans, these ethnic Macedonians, whom they, the Greeks, tried to totally exterminateand the word exterminate fits the description to a "t"are the real thorn in Greeceīs side (and by implication yours too) that wonīt go away any time soon.
These are the wretched souls whoagainst enormous oddssurvived the Greek ethnic cleansing ongoing since 1913, and who bear witness to the Greek state sponsored atrocities. These are the same people who bore the brunt of the brutality of a debunked fascist Greek regime, and these are the same people who have experienced the cultural genocide perpetrated in front of their eyes.
Moreover, these are the same Macedonian people whom you, European hypocrites, left unprotected and defenseless under a dictatorial fascist regime of Metaxas. These are the same people you sacrificed as lambs for the "good of Europe" more than one hundred years ago in the congress of Berlin. Yes, my dear arrogant Europeans, these are the same people who today suffer under the bigoted Greek regimethat little Frankenstein you have createdwhose crimes perpetrated against humanityostensibly, you donīt seewill never be forgotten.
These Macedonian survivors whom the Greek government does not recognize as people and tries by any means possible to silence them, have finally summoned enough courage to raise their voices and demand respect and recognition as ethnic Macedonians. Yes, this is the gist of Greeceīs agonizing problem; fear of the resurrected Macedonians.
Now, since I know whom I am dealing with, let me not mince any words and tell this bigoted fool what he needs to hear:
He stated:
(a) "Greece has itself to blame because it had its chance to insist that word not be in whatever acronym that little part of the former Yugoslavia called itself, as insignificant a little territory it is. If it were any more useless it could be part of Italy."
Answer:
If one removes the Aegean Macedonia that Europe gave to you Greeks as a "gift", your lazy lot will have nothing left but broken marble, barren rocks and no drinking water.
(b) "FYROM canīt even hold elections without people getting killed in gunfights or have sessions of parliament without fistfights in the halls."
Answer:
At least we do not shoot teenagers on the streets. Unlike Greece, the Macedonian parliament affords voice and representation of all minority groups living in the Republic of Macedonia. Greecein this respectis an astronomical year behind Republic of Macedonia. I can safely state that you and the rest of the Balkan states can only learn from Macedoniaīs example. Neither the ancient Greek states nor the artificially created modern Greece, has ever practiced true democracy.
In a true democratic government there are no slaves and females enjoy equal rights as their male counterparts. Ancient Greeks, unlike the ancient Macedonians, failed to reach these measures. Arguably, one can safely conclude that democratic principles in Greece have undergone profound Frankenstein-like metamorphosis.
(c) "If FYROM says itīs Slavic, why did it choose the name of Alexander the Great, a Greek hero, for its airport, in yet another ill-advised irredentist move."
Answer:
I can tell that you are a product of a fascist (Stohos) Greek school. It is in your interest to promote debunked theory that Slavs, somehow, came to Macedonia in the sixth century.
Hear this: the Slavs did not come from behind the Carpathian Mountains. They were always here. Find a shred of evidence that they migrated from the North-East. Find a shred of evidence that they came from somewhere else. Show the proof once and for all. Empty words will not do. Read this statement and memorize it: Alexander the Great did not give a hoot for Greece. He was a Macedonian King. Read the Greek biographers and if you find one quote where he states that he is Greek, I will publicly apologize to all of you Greeks. Greece is the only country in the annals of history that has taken its conqueror as a national hero.
(d) "FYROM isnīt just land-locked, itīs brainlocked, and if it wants to show its true colours, it can remove the red from its red-and-yellow flag."
Answer:
No, Mr. Dumbilis, it is you who is brain-locked. You are so brain-locked that you have forgotten to remove your blinkers. If you want to show that your lonely neuron works, stop generating more heat than light.
(e)
"FYROM maps claim Greek territory as its own, including the ancient Greek city of Thessaloniki, because the Slavs want a port, a curious thought since they donīt have a real navy or a shipping industry, but thatīs what happens when jealousy is a main plank of your foreign policy. It must be tough living in a low-rent, second-rate neighbourhood next to the most important country the ancient world produced, because Greece created democracy and FYROM created . well, nothing."
Answer:
You need to be slapped silly here. Donīt you midgets have any common-sense at all? Mirrors have been created for people just like you. Take a chance and look at your sorry self sometimes. It seems to me, all you need is a feather stuck in your behind and you will think that you can fly.
It is not what you think of yourself that matters, but the opinion of those who see you as you are. Let them hurl praises upon you. Tooting your own horn does not cut it, unless you feel, and are, intellectually insecure.
You chump, are a shallow dwarf that will never measure up to us. Iīll tell you
why: First, it is your empty arrogance that precedes you. You have nothing to
back it up with. Second, you come from a thieving nation. You have been breast-fed by Europe for far too long. It is time to get off the nipple. Third, you have committed cultural genocide against ethnic Macedonians, ethnic Vlachs and Albanians. You have deprived these ethnic peoples from using their own motherīs tongue and that is a gruesome, unforgiving crime. You have systematically destroyed their cultures and stolen their inheritance. Your poisonous tentacles have caused a lot of pain to a whole lot of people; remember, one day justice will come knocking at your door. It is unavoidable.
You have nothing to do with the ancient Greeks; you are an embarrassment to
them. Do not attach your ugly selves to anything Macedonian.
Jealousy? (Contemptuous smirk followed by suffocating nasal sound) Of you Greeks? Yeah, right.
Please, do not flatter yourself. I wouldnīt step down and remember to remove your blinders; as I said before, you generate more heat than light.
If it wasnīt for the British and the American help before, and European dollars today, you would be the biggest beggar in the Balkans.
The Greek bigot completes the article with this passage:
"FYROM is the creation of the myth of political compromise, a fake amalgam of a country that didnīt exist until Greece allowed the use of a name most Greeks didnīt want used and is so silly that even Greeks get mixed up what to call it, although it sounds like some kind of lubricant (Pass me the FYROM, will you, I canīt get this screw undone.)".
Someone, please, hold the mirror in front of this fool. As far as a response to his drivel even though highly tempting I will leave a blank line. You do the rest
