Evidence from phonology indicates that the ancient Macedonian language was very distinct from the Hellenic and closer to the Thracian and Illyrian languages. The most ludicrous is that the Greeks insist that they are descendants of the Hellenes. This is like saying that the Chinese are Russians. The Hellenic and the Greek languages are totally different languages. The Macedonian king Alexander the Great never said "ti ginete" ( how are you) in Greek because that language at his time never existed.

The ancient Hellenic heritage has been stretched to such extremes, it has become a subject of ridicule around the World. A free society cannot continue under the shadows of ancient glory and myth, the chains of Hellenism have compromised the sense of freedom and reality. The concept of self-criticism is a remote idea from the national Greek psyche.
