To the European Union:
Since 1913 Pirin and Aegean Macedonia have been occupied by the Bulgarians
and Greeks. We the Macedonians have written many letters to the super
powers but to no avail. We want human rights in Bulgaria and Greece, we want
to be able to speak our mother tongue freely. We want to learn our mother
tongue in Macedonian in schools, but the Bulgarians and Greeks do not
recognize our Macedonian language or the Macedonian ethnicity since 1913.
The Greeks and the Bulgarians cannot have both occupation and suppression of
all things Macedonian. We the Macedonians are a very peaceful people.
In 1913 Macedonia was divided in three portions Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria.
Greece in 1926, changed all the Macedonian toponyms into Greek, a total of
1,666 cities and villages. In 1926 also they changed our first and last
names from Jovan Patchev to Ioannis Patsopulos. In 1936 they suppressed the
Macedonian language. Since then even today in the 21st century the Greeks
still do not recognize the Macedonians in Aegean Macedonia (Greece). They
did that to tell the world that in Greece only Greeks live there. Since
Greece is a member of the European Union, the E.U. does not criticize
Greece. They turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to all that Greece does.
Especially to what the Greek government does to the Macedonians.
1) No Macedonian schools, no Macedonian television, no Macedonian radio, no
Macedonian church. Macedonians are not allowed to baptize a baby with a
Macedonian name. They are not allowed to restore their own original
Macedonian first and last names, not allowed to call our city and village
in our Macedonian original name. I ask the European Union is it not a shame
to lose our mother tongue? The Macedonians were under the Ottoman Empire
for 530 years and kept the Macedonian language. We kept the Macedonian
language, the original first and last names, the original toponyms. But the
Greeks changed all of that overnight. And now the Greeks forbid the use of
the Macedonian language. The Macedonians need human rights. Since democracy
was born in Greece why is there no democracy for Macedonians?
I implore the EU to tell his partner Greece to rectify those weird laws,
since Greece is a member country the European Union has the right to issue
this request.
