FM Milososki: Macedonia will celebrate next jubilee as NATO, EU member

I am certain that with own efforts and further support of your countries, Macedonia will mark the next jubilee as full-fledged NATO and European Union member, a status the country deserves, as frequently affirmed by our friends with whom we are celebrating this anniversary today, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki said at a ceremony in the Army Hall in honor of the 15 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Macedonia and 13 European countries.
Macedonian people and members of all other ethnic communities highly appreciate the friendship and cooperation of these European countries, Milososki said at the ceremony, held under the motto "Fifteen Years of European Friendship and Partnership".- The last 15 years have been reflecting the spirit of mutual trust, respect and assistance, particularly present in developing the political, economic, cultural and other forms of cooperation of mutual interest, sealed by numerous visits on the highest level, international agreements and realization of many joint initiatives, Milososki said.He pointed out that Macedonia could not forget the support when the country was dealing with certain difficulties, such as the economic embargoes in the 1990s, the conflict in the neighborhood and large wave of refugees, and the domestic crisis in 2001.The European spirit of friendship, partnership has been particularly demonstrated via the constant support most of the countries with whom we are celebrating this anniversary offer to Macedonia on its road to the EU, NATO membership, Milososki said.The good cooperation has been evident not only in the bilateral relations, but also in numerous regional, global initiatives related to joint efforts for preserving the peace, security and building of democratic, prosperous states, the Foreign Minister said.- The Republic of Macedonia has proven to be a credible partner of the international community, contributing to the stabilization of the SEE region. As a functional multiethnic democracy, it has also shown that the coexistence of various ethnic groups is its added value for the European family, Milososki said.Macedonia has made substantial political, societal development since its independence in 1991 and the establishment of diplomatic ties with 13 states in 1993, Norwegian Ambassador in Skopje Carl Wibye said.He expressed belief that Macedonia would certainly take its place within the Euro-Atlantic community and conveyed wishes of prosperity and welfare to the citizens of Macedonia on the behalf of the 13 countries.His French colleague Bernard Valero also gave credit to Macedonia on its progress, in particular on its contribution to the global security.In 1993 Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Britain, Norway, Sweden, Bulgaria, Albania, France, Finland, Iceland and Poland established diplomatic ties with Macedonia.
