Hey Everyone,
After being accepted to Saba Univ since September, I have finally made the decision to attend for Janurary '03 after a long battle of doing extra research for all of the other schools that I considered. My friend and I both got accepted and will both be there in January. We are each looking to buy first semester books so if any one wants to sell their books to us, please let us know!!!
Also, I am from California and for anyone who wants to practice in California, I have been keeping up with this. I contacted Saba and they said they have already submitted their paper work to the Medical Board of California and it should be a year or so until approval. But, I did not stop there. I wanted to find out the answer from the horse's mouth so I contacted the Medical Board of California and checked up on Saba. Indeed, the school is under review at this time and they said it is a long process and should be a year. Even if it takes a little longer, that would be perfectly alright only because I have yet to start Basic Sciences and also complete my rotations. So, this is 3.5 years from now. And I know by then they will have California approved. At first, I thought I should transfer to a different Caribbean School w/ Cali sites but realized that the best bet is to stick to one good school (Saba) and by that time Cali will be well on its way.
I have heard many mixed things about Saba's professors and I was wondering if there is more than one professor teaching a certain course so if anyone has any good recommndations that would be greatly appreciated.
Are there any students attending the January '03 term? I would love to get in contact with you. It would really put the students at much more ease I think.
Also, does anyone recommend brining a USMLE book to Saba as a supplement to the courses just to see what to expect and at the same time to help keep up on things for the USMLE? Thanks so much! I greatly appreciate all of your help.
