All continues to be well in rotations in Baltimore

I have just completed 38 weeks of my rotations with OBGYN coming up next on March 3rd at Holy Cross in Silver Springs, Maryland followed by Pediatrics in New York. I recommend if possible to take Step 1 then take the Toefl so you can do the CSA before you take Step 2. The CSA, even though there are now 2 locations still gets quite backed up and if god forbid you had to retake it you would still have the time to register for it and retake it in time to make the match. At one time just back in October it was backed up 4 months and there were many who are going to miss this match and have to scramble because they registered for the CSA after Oct 24th and could not get a date to take the test until mid Feb. of this year. I just registered for the CSA and am scheduled to take it in June and will take Step 2 around August 1st. If you do it early and in this order you have plenty of time to retake a test if you did not pass and still make the match. Gardner is on top of all paper work especially regarding registering for any and all tests thru the ECFMG. Another reason to try to get your tests done early is that if you intend to enter the SanFrancisco Match (as I am going to in my case) You will have all of your scores while you are interviewing for different programs. This also holds true for the National Match Program also. I think this is a definite plus especially being foreign graduates as the program will know there wont be any surprises like not having passed or taken a certain test. When you submit your Central Application or your ERAS applications to the residency programs for an interview I feel it can only help that all of the score boxes are filled with Step 1 and 2 scores and a CSA pass. This way the program knows all you need to do is finish your rotations(get your diploma), to get your ECFMG certification. Good Luck to everyone, the time will fly by trust me if you are on the island and its seems to be dragging. I cant believe for me on Dec. 26th its a done deal.

Sincerely, Scott Jones MS IV
