The hours spent vary widely between specialty and institution. On average I would guess you spend 60 hours each week in the hospital ranging from less than 40 to over 100 (depending on your call schedule). Rotations like psych are typically cake, while surgery is typically hell. Over all though, you find yourself enjoying practicing medicine...what we are all here for.
