OBGYN here at Holy Cross is a first class rotation and I am exclusively with students from George Washington University school of medicine. I found out today that Saba students ARE officially invited to participate in the Grand Round Lectures which are offered twice a week at the University in DC. Historically the Saba students would only attend the grand rounds offered here at the hospital. I only found this out by accident as I was wondering why as a rule saba students never went so I went to the dept. of education here at the hosptial and she called the Director of education at Holy Cross in charge of George Washington Univeristy School of Medicine students. As it turns out the students from Saba University School of Medicine are more than welcome to attend the grand rounds lectures at the Geoprge Washington University in DC and as a matter of fact it is strongly encouraged and also by the residents. Mind you, we are not required to attend as technically we are not students from the University and these lectures are for their medical students but the fact that we are invited says alot for the students who have done OBGYN here at Holy Cross. Anyway as far as OB goes the call is q4 because we dont have many students from George Washington University which makes it pretty rigorous because when you are on call it means you do NOT sleep. On OB call you get absolutely no sleep whatsover and there is no post call so you are here the whole following day and let me tell you by then you feel like a zombie . GYN call is kinda like surgery call in that you can usually find a few hours to close your eyes but you are still wrecked the next day. We have much less rigorous rotations in OB but my advice is that for any student who wants or is considering an OB residency this is by far where you want to be. This place is busy and you will see and do it all. I was GYN call last nite and the girl from GW who was on OB call delivered 8 babies last nite from 4pm to 6am!!!!! Thats pretty damn busy Id say and apparently thats not a fluke as its always that busy. Good luck to all and will post again with any information to pass along to the students

Sincerely, Scott Jones
