Maureen vs. June?

Hi John and boom... I am second to none in my admiration for Maureen O'Hara, but I demur as to whether she was "the most beautiful woman ever spanked in a full length feature film."

Maureen's Katherine McLintock is, indeed, one of the most spankworthy characters ever filmed. But in 1949 June Haver was spanked in "Look For the Silver Lining," in one of the greatest spanking SCENES in 20th Century film making.

Consider: June was 25 and in the bloom of youth when she went over Gordon MacRae's knee. She was blonde, petite, blue-eyed, and drop-dead gorgeous. Despite all this, she went across MacRae's lap and took eleven (11) handsmacks on her beautiful backside, all of them on screen. She wore only a negligee, and his hand made full and solid contact with her right cheek (the only cheek used for this scene) eleven times... and to more than a few of us, it seemed that she was truly being spanked, as opposed to a faked scene where the spanker pulls his punches.

Not that the Duke pulled his punches on Maureen. He didn't, and that coal shovel had to hurt somewhat. But if you watch the "McLintock!" scene in slo-mo, you'll see only six (6) swats actually landing. Flaming red hair and all, the beauteous Ms. O'Hara was truly a gorgeous creature... but she was 43 when she took that spanking, as opposed to the 25-year-young Ms. Haver. That wins bravery points for Maureen, but the question of which was the "most beautiful" spankee is still on the table.

Besides, I know and love June Haver, and I've never met Maureen O'Hara. Maybe it was a tie.

Cheers,
Dan
