I recently saw "There's a Girl In My Soup.(1970)" This film starred the late Peter Sellers and a very young Goldie Hawn (About 25)
There is a scene in the movie where Sellers' character tells Hawn's character that he has a good mind to take her over his knee and spank her. Hawn jumps up and shadow boxes a little and essentially dares him to carry out his threat. Sadly Sellers does not accept the challenge.
The moment is quickly diffused. This is even more frustrating because Goldie had, an still has, a magnificent bottom. (She does give us just a glimpse a few moments later.) Too bad! This was, in my opinion a golden opportunity for what could have been one of the classic spanking scenes.
I have no idea why it was not carried out. Perhaps Goldie was unwilling to get spanked on screen and had enough clout to enforce her refusal. Or, maybe this was the beginning of the end for spanking scenes in the movies.
