I am new to this group and I hope nobody minds old topics being reopened.
I was pleased to see the earlier reference to Jimmy Jewel's spanking of pretty actress Roberta Rex in the 1969 TV comedy series Thicker than Water. This event is worthy,in my view,of much more detailed description as ,besides being extremely watchable,it provokes thought as to how the director dealt with a possible delicate subject and suceeded in probably not offending anyone!
Roberta Rex played the part of 15 year old schoolgirl Vicky Eccles brilliantly aided by a script which gave her an apparently never ending supply of cheeky and amusing one liners mainly at the the expense of her widowed father and her elder sister's boyfriend.Virtualy everytime she opens her mouth she is threatened with a tanning, good hiding, trip across my knee etc by her father who seems to be frustrated by his inability to verbally best his youngest in exchange of wit. However, although she frequently has to dodge her fathers grabs and is half chased out of the room by him on many ocassions(amid audience laughter) he never gets to actually spank her for actual verbals or naughtyness following a threat. The producer did however get around this ongoing stalemate senario in a very clever piece of theatre-one assumes that he had to show the threats were not empty but could not have Vicky being spanked each episode.
At the start of the second episode, it is 8am and Mr Eccles is sitting in his chair by the fire reading his morning newspaper and listening quietly to the news on the radio. Vicky comes into the room dressed in her school uniform dancing to herself as she obviously is getting ready to go to school . Not a word is said as she goes straight to the radio and changes the station to one with loud music and then proceeds to gyrate and shake in time to the music as she moves around the room puting books in her schoolbag. There is loud audience laughter at this (as there is pretty much throughout the whole scene). JImmy Jewel just sits there with a look of disbelief on his face. Vicky (still dancing and wriggling) obviously cannot find one of her school books and starts moving cushions and (still wriggling) starts trying to look under the cushion of the chair where her father is sitting-she just seems to be ignoring him which gives the scene some of its humour! She first looks under the near side and then leans over him still trying to look under the cushion; This has the effect of totally crushing the newspaper her father has been trying to read. Still not a word is spoken .Vicky then leans right over her fathers lap in a perfect spanking position trying to look under his chair for her book. And she is still wriggling in time to the music.At this point Jimmy Jewel looks at the inviting target, puts down his newspaper and gives two good slaps to the seat of her short skirt. He pauses but Vicky is still busy looking under the chair(and still wriggling). To loud audience laughter he then deliberately reaches down with both hands and lifts up her skirt revealing white panties.He pauses again but Vicky just carries on as before. About five good spanks alternating on each wriggling cheek follow-but again no response from the recipient.He again pauses, pushes up her blouse a little way and puts both thumbs in the waistband of her knickers and lifts slightly amid roars of audience laughter. As Vicky is still dancing during this her movements briefly show a glimpse of upper buttock. However her faather lets her pants snap back into place , gives her two last slaps on her panties and shouts MOGG OFF. The only words spoken during the whole scene!Vicky,who has apparently now found her missing schoolbook leaves still dancing.Jimmy Jewel turns off the radio and tries to continue reading his crushed newspaper.
