BACK TO AGAIN TO THE SPANKING 1890'S

by

Had to take a short break from presenting the run of letters that appeared in the New York Evening World during the mid 1890's. So far my research has suggested that 1895 for whatever reason was the peak year for spanking letters to the editor in the Evening World.

Appearing roughly two weeks after the February 20th letters, the March 8th, 1895 letters were again grouped in one long vertical column and as in the earlier letters they discussed the appropriateness and value of spanking older girls. The age range in the March 8th group is 16 to 26.

Please note the introduction of a letter about wife spanking. Later on in the year letters about spouce spanking, consensual and non-consensual become a topic of discussion. Even the unusual role of the ever popular mother-in-law.

Still hoping that others will also contribute letters and articles.

I read recently that the Portland Oregonian ran a series of artilces during 1922 and 1923 about Flapper Girl Spanking. Anyone interested in doing some follow-up?
