Jindabyne?? What Does It mean?

Hey Cyn,
The best two Soccer players? I'll suggest Zinedine Zidane of France & Ronaldo of Brazil.
The best two teams? Zidane's influence has helped France to reigning world champs. Argentina has raced away with the South American qualifying group sending a clear signal of their worth.
To name two club sides, maybe Manchester United & Barcelona. However, Bayern Munich are the current European champs. There are many fine candidates from Spain, Italy, England, Argentina, etc., who knows?! And then there's Adelaide City! (Well, maybe not?!) People more in touch than me could soon tear my choices apart. I'm no expert.
Jock's passion for Scotland is very understandible. I experienced the 'Tartan Army' first hand when Scotland eliminated Australia a few Cups back. (Sob!) Though the final leg was played in Melbourne, Scotland's travelling band of supporters probably outnumbered the home support!
Jindabyne?! Thanks for asking. I was wondering when someone might. It is an Aboriginal word. I think it means 'protective shield'. Kind of appropriate around here!
I love Aussie place names. So unique, they have a colour of their own that captures part of our Aboriginal heritage. (Like Milwaukee & Cheyenne in your homeland). We had a national basketball team called the Nunawading Spectres. For some reason, they decided to become Eastside Melbourne. What a boring switch. Wollongong Wolves are the Australian reigning soccer champs. When they compete in the World Club Champs, it will be excellent to see such a good Aussie name representing us.
It was probably "The Alice", or Alice Springs where you encountered "The Royal Flying Doctor Service". They rescued me & my late partner's daughter that fateful day we lost her in a country road accident hours from Adelaide. They are truly angels of mercy. No need to get upset, though. I appreciated your past words of sympathy in the past.
Go the Packers!,
Love,
Jindabyne.
