Another question. If you can chose a movie(s) scene(s)to be brought into with a female character(example: julia roberts in My Best Friends Wedding where she gets a well deserved spanking from her friend who's wedding she almost ruined) and what she is wearing when she gets spanked(example: the gray suit or the black jeans she wears near the end) or another example (sharon stone getting spanked by michael douglas in basic instinct while wearng those tight riding pants). Earlier at this site, in response to a request regarding soapie spankings, I posted a recollection re a spanking I had come across on "The Young & The Restless" years ago where "Victor" had spanked "Nikki" over his knee on her black and white dress. I came across the name of the spankee who subsequently thanked Victor for what he had just done as she felt it showed he cared. The lucky recipient was Melody Thomas Scott. Food for thought...ART Ramblings

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to discover this forum (thanks to my friend Arild, the webmaster here). For those that are interested, I'll take this opportunity to share a few thoughts about art in general, offered to you as food for thought.

You know the old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is a lot of truth to that when viewing any art. Some people love an image strictly based upon the subject or idea alone, others may appreciate the techniques the artist employed to achieve the completed image, and may not necessarily appreciate the rendered subject, some may appreciate both or everything, some may appreciate nothing. Some may love just a segment or portion, others may love the complete composition. I do not believe any one specific artwork defines an artist, but rather the artist's complete body of work (or portfolio). Having said that, no artist can really please everyone. The viewer makes their own interpretation of an image, which may differ from some other viewer's interpretation, and may also differ from the artist's own interpretation. But that is the beauty in art. There is no right or wrong in formulating an interpretation. The important thing for any artist is knowing that the work that one pours themselves into (and leaves a part of themselves into) connects with someone, reaches and speaks to them. But that specific image or even the complete portfolio cannot touch everyone the same. Some people like ketchup and some like mustard, some like both.

Being an artist, I create my art according to my own thoughts and fantasies, my own desires. That is called 'self expression.' Releasing those inner motivations and inspirations. Art is not created for anyone else's desires unless it is a commercially commissioned project, and that is a different topic completely. Those that appreciate an artist's work will also share their similar thoughts, ideas, desires and fantasies. No one can share every single fantasy since we are all individuals. The viewer must also determine an artist's success in conveying the image's idea or subject through the artist's style, composition and techniques. But, there is no doubt that if enough fantasies, ideas or desires are shared, and the degree of success deemed sufficient, strong or high in the art's execution, then chances are that viewer will connect with a bulk of an artist's portfolio.

And again, it is the artist's complete body of related work which defines them...each image complimenting the other on some level, and each adding to the eroticism expressed. For instance, one specific element in one specific image may convey a sensuality which will carry over into other images, and vice versa. An analogy would be like a 45 rpm single compared to a band's/musician's complete album. That is why I said that not everyone will appreciate every artist or every single image, but some will. I can tell you that like everything else in life, no matter how someone applies themselves, it is good to know your efforts are acknowledge, noted and appreciated.

Any artist should appreciate feedback, especially if it is positive. So if you are ever touched by an image or portfolio of a visual artist (or writer, musician, poet etc.), take the time to share it with them because with positive feedback comes further inspiration. I know I value such input and feedback.

I hope heads and tails may be made from these ramblings, but felt this was a good forum to share some of my thoughts.

Once again, my thanks to Arild for creating this forum (and his excellent website and yahoo groups) for those of us interested in spanking art, illustration and toons to congregate and communicate openly. And my thanks to Cynthia for appreciating my art...though I must admit to preferring to render F/F images, I'll post a few M/F to the related Yahoo group for her and you all.

I agree with what you say about the artist's self-expression and the viewer's identification (or lack thereof) with the subject matter and the artist's rendering of it. My talent is not on a level with yours, but I too have an artistic vision that I follow in my pictures. You express yourself most eloquently whether in words or in images.

Thanks for the cool words. Actually, my own definition of 'talent' is 'motivation' and 'inspiration'. The talent is staying motivated through the ups and downs...and working thorugh it even when one doesn't feel creative or inspired. Do not compare your 'talent' with anyone elses...just stay motivated and keep expressing through your chosen medium(s).

Have you posted your own art on Arild's Yahoo group? I'm a new visitor there, but will look around for your contributions.

use of the word "talent"

I agree with you completely. I was using the word "talent" in a different way than you were. I meant a predetermined effort-to-result ratio for gaining maintaining or improving artistic skills. As we know, there are some people for whom drawing well comes easy and there are others that as they put it, "can't draw stick figures". I have been blessed with a certain amount of natural ability and am grateful for what I have. The pictures you draw are obviously the result of starting out with a tremendous amount of natural talent and then working hard to develop it. I do what I can do, and I admire the art of others.

Kona Coast

Many years ago, I remember seeing a movie called Kona Coast (of I think 1960s vintage) which was sort of a tropical adventure. The action occurs on a boat. Crusty old Richard Boone (of Have Gun Will Travel fame) is angry with a young woman and bends her over and proceeds to spank her. Vera Miles (who I believe plays his girl friend) interupts to stop him saying: "Is that all you can do, hit people?" - or something to that effect. What I can't remember is if any spanks landed or not and who was the spankee. Does anyone know?

Getting Gertie's Garter

I read somewhat on the web that Getting Gertie's Garter is now available on DVD. This late 1930s Hollywood production apparently has an aborted spanking scene which results in one of the all time great M/F stills, with stunning Marie McDonald across the knees of Barry Sullivan (who looks like he means business). It would be great if someone could find that film, give us a little more background on the story, and draw off a few more still of that scene. I have not yet purchased a DVD player.

Yeah. It's too bad that she spanking never happened in the film, but I sure love that still! If anyone knows whether a still exists of Red Skelton with HILLARY BROOKE from The Fuller Brush Man, let me know. There (unfortunately) wasn't a spanking in the movie itself, but there were at least to stills that featured pretty young ladies from the cast draped across Red Skelton's lap. One is Janet Blair, who played Skelton's girlfriend in the movie. That picture seems to pop up every now and them. Someone had it on ebay recently. Then there's one of Adelle Jurgens, who played a very minor role in the movie. She's in an otk pose on the package of the videotape of the movie. What I want to know, and haven't been able to find out so far, was whether Hillary Brooke, the film's villainess, posed otk with Red Skelton. Hillary Brooke was much prettier than Janet Blair or Adelle Jurgens, and would look really nice across some man's lap. I'm sure that the same photgrapher who took the otk shots of Blair and Jurgens wouldn't have passed up the chance to put Hillary Brooke in that position.

Brides of Christ

Just letting you know, Arild, that the still of two young ladies receiving the 'yard stick' in "Brides of Christ", 1985, on your site features Naomi Watts (left) and Mellisa Thomas (right). Mellisa's career continued steadily on Australian TV whilst Naomi established an international career. Naomi has had major roles in films such as "Flirting", "Tank Girl" and, most recently, "Mulholland Drive".
They found themselves in this predicament after Naomi had talked Mellisa into borrowing a library book to explain the repurcussions of divorce. Set in a Catholic school around the 1950's, this was a great taboo as divorce was not recognised. They found a hiding place to consult it prior to being 'sprung' by a nun. Naomi sought this knowledge in fear for her Mother who was approaching divorce. Naomi feared, as Catholics, her Mother was going to hell.
As both are attractive performers, this compensated for the fact it was not OTK. Furthermore, this maintained the authenticity of the scene. Whilst brief, it was well acted with nice close ups of both their faces simultaneously. Just before the yard stick came down on Melissa's posterior, she refused to give the disciplining nun the true story of what they were up to, thus covering for Naomi. (Mind you, Naomi had not told Mellisa the full story, either!) Whilst bent over, Naomi whispered to Mellisa, "Sorry!", for getting her into trouble. Mellisa responded, "Don't worry about it.", or something to that effect. The yard stick then came down on Mellisa's rear three times. Naomi got away with only one swat prior to another nun interrupting the punishment.
"Brides of Christ" was a fine mini-series well worth seeing if you ever get the chance. In a later episode, Natasha Henstridge gives a one swatter to another character in her bathers poolside.
I thought this info would help your presentation enhancing the faceless & nameless still. Personally, I can't get interested in a spanking scene if the spankee is faceless as I need to 'connect' with the individual in question. Still, it is certainly better than nothing!,

Slight Corrections

Just a few alterations. Melissa Thomas' name is spelt 'Melissa', not 'Mellisa'. Also, It was Lisa Hensley playing a nun who gives the one swatter later on, not the more famous Henstridge. I must get more sleep! (Out of interest, Lisa Hensley has refused many approaches from Hollywood; instead wishing to follow her passion on the Australian stage interspersed with occasional TV roles).
Moreover, checking up, the series was originally screened in 1991.

TV memories

There was an amusing little incident featured on UK Saturday morning childrens program SMTV Live back last year. It featured Ant and Dec, (who are known for slipping in some pretty risky adult humour during the show)The lovely Cat Deely, and pop band S Club 7.
It was a re-written story based on Snow White, miss Deely being Snow White and S Club 7 being the dwarfs.
At the end of the sketch Ant reads a line something like "Dec spanks them all and says goodbye" there is some talk about it being a misprint and should read "thanks" but it is decided that spank is correct. So one by one the members of S Club 7 stand in front of Dec with their back to him and he dilivers one hard smack to each of their bottoms accompanied by a sound effect smack. After the band have left Cat Deely turns her back to Dec, bends over, and says "Go on then, hard as you like" Unfortunately no smack is given, but they grin at each other and both have that look that suggests there's a hidden joke in there somewhere.

Also, does anyone remember an episode of Please Sir,first series I think as it was black and white, where John Alderton puts his ex girlfriend, who is at the school as a student teacher, over his knee and begins to spank her, but they are interupted by the class running in from the corridor where they have been waiting and listening. I have watched various re-runs of this series but have never again seen this episode.

While on the subject of John Alderton, his pretty real life wife, Pauline Collins apeared in a TV play about a prostitute who is visited by Santa Claus and mistakes him for a customer. At one point she pouts and says in a little girl voice, "I've been a bad girl, I've been ever so wicked, does Santa want to smack my botty?" and sticks her bottom out at him. Later in the same play Santa is telling her how in different countries Christmas is different. "In Germany I come with this" he says, brandishing a small birch, he grabs her, pulls her over his knees and gives her several strokes as she struggles and yells that "I don't do discipline"

Oh Well, just a few memories, does anyone else remember these?

Please Sir Spanking Scene

The episode is entitled 'The Student Princess' and is from the first (black-and-white) series of the school sitcom written by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey. It was made by London Weekend Television, one of the first series they did after getting the London broadcasting franchise, and was first shown in London on 13th December 1968 (and then was networked across the rest of the UK regions on 16th December).

The spanked actress is Gay Hamilton. What makes the scene especially notable is that she is wearing a 1968-length mini-skirt (i.e. very short indeed) and her panties are visible when she's being spanked. (To avoid confusion, I don't mean that her skirt is raised: the lower edge can be seen under the hemline.)

The episode does exist (as indeed does the whole of 'Please Sir') but I don't think it has been included in any repeat runs of the series. Oddly enough, when Granada Plus started five years ago, they repeated the series from the start, but they only showed the first five b/w episodes before jumping on to the colour episodes. As this was the sixth b/w episode, this can only be described as extremely frustrating!
