28Thomas SAID to him, "My Lord and my God!"

Then Jesus told him, because you have SEEN me, you HAVE BELIEVED; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. (Jn. 20:29, NIV)

Bible scholars believe that Thomas statement doubting Jesus resurrection was a sarcastic denial of belief, not a demand to touch Jesus' wounds. And John never tells us that Thomas put his hand into his side or that he actually touched the wounds.
