Response to Re: Yes, 1 Tim. 1:17 proves that God is eternal, immortal. So God could not die.

KJV says 'the love of God', but at least they are honest by putting 'of God' in italics, so this way they show us that 'of God' was not in the original Greek text. So it is an addition thought up by the KJV translators, an unjustified addition.
So it should say "Hereby perceive we love, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."
So as you can see, in Greek it does not say that God laid down his life for us. So naturally it refers to the Son of God, see verse 8. The Son of God is the one who laid down his life for us. So God did not die, as Paul wrote in 1 Timothy, God is immortal.

        1. It is faulty in that verse, because it forgot to put 'of God' in italics. - Tomas on Jul 21, 2017, 4:15 AM
