And this is over the last 3 years or so. One of the local hospitals experienced a shortage of Nurses a few years ago and recruited quite a few from the PI. I think the locale gained about 8 members from that (nurses and their families). Four american men joined to marry filipina women that immigrated, so that is another 7 (four men, three women, with one woman still waiting on her visa). We have had 6 members leave the church. So we gained 10, all from immigration for work or marriage related immigration. I have no idea how much of a role the church played in the women immigrating here. I do get the impression that most of them get very homesick after a year or two. But I suppose that is true of any immigrants.
