the Lord'. None have been found so far that say 'the church of Christ', or even 'the church of the Christ'. So it is not know how the Peshitta translation came up with 'the church of Christ'. One possibility is that the translator had on hand a Greek text that said 'the church of Christ', though such a text has not survived. Another possibility is that the translator made a careless error, he read maybe 'the church of the Lord', and he mistakenly translated it as 'the church of Christ'.
