I have used Nero 5.5 with tmpeg to create svcd files and cds playable in the stand alone dvd player with success. Video rendering was slow with PIII 600 mhz and Asus P2B mb so I updated to P4 2.26 mhz Asus P4B533-E with 1 gig DDr and 24 x LG R/RW. Everything works fine fast renders, conversion to mpeg2 but Nero does not recognize the drive. The drive works with Roxio lite that came with the system and easy cd creator 5 platinum but what I really want is svcd burning capability. I have uninstalled all burning programs other than Nero. Nero utilities recognize the burner and can test it but the Nero burning program does not. The system has a raid controller for hard drives and the ide controller for a dvd player, LG burner and zip drive. Nero writes an image of the svcd I wish to prepare on the hard drive. I now have to write mpeg-2 files to external firewire drive and burn cd from my old computer. Pain in the ass but works for now. How can I get Nero to regognize the LG burner?

Known problem with Windoze XP. Loses burn rights.


If using same, check that you have burn rights in registry.
Search for CDROM and right click mouse on same for properties.
Sometimes gets set to read only for some reason. If so, change to ALL.
Exit registry and retry Nero.
Nero sight has utility for resetting registry re same, but this didn't work for me. Check site anyway.

Shortcut to full privaledges is to login as Administrator.

Also DVDRs are too new - they need a driver loaded to burn. Otherwise Nero will only recognize the image recorder.
