Still trying to create SVCDs. I have the softencoder from Canopus/Storm. I want to burn short SVCDs for play on PC's. I tried VCD Easy. It did something, what I'm not sure but there are no mpeg files on the disk and it doesn't play. I'm real green at this, details please.
Thank you.
ps VCDhelp.com didn't. Only added to the confusion. Too many choices!
what are the best options for creating and playing SVCDs on PCs? I use the softencoder, which has many settings for MPEG 1 or 2 as well as SVCD and VCD. My biggest issue is how will other PCs view these videos if they don't have a software player or DVD player on their machine? Seems SVCD is a good player with nowhere to play. You can go way down to VCD and use Win Media Player or wait until DVD becomes more popular. Hoping someone has an interim compromise solution.
If you are just going to watch it on your PC then don"t encode it at all..Just leave it in the format it is in cuz encodeing it to mpeg2 will just make you loose Quality..The Mpeg format is Mostly for DVD/SVCD/VCD"s, so encodeing to mpeg to watch on a PC is just a waste of time and of the Quality of the original file.if you are encodeing it to mpeg cuz it is in say uncompressed AVI and is takeing up too much Hard Disk space you would be better off encodeing it to Divx cuz Divx is a better Compression format than Mpeg and the file size will be smaller than the Mpeg...
