I know this probaly has been asked before, and it probaly will be asked again. I have Nero, because it seems to be the main program to use. I myself am not a guru so please be patient. What I need to know is the basics. How do I burn a movie that I have downloaded, that will play on a stand alone DVD player. What are the steps, do I need to convert anything, what are the best types to download and burn i.e. divx, vcd, mpeg, etc. Do I need to cut the movie to make it fit, if so, how or what programs, and where can I get them. I see things like dvd2svcd and womble? Any information will help. As I said this is all new to me, and all I want to be able to do is download movies and watch them on the big screen. Thanks for the help.

In My oppinion Don"t get your Movies by Downloading them off the net at file share places like Kazaa, those files aren"t really made for encodeing to vcd/svcd/dvd cuz of a bunch of reasons like the frame rates are usually Non-standard for makeing Mpeg"s for vcd/svcd/dvd"s, a lot of those movies have frame rates that are like 14.9fps and 20fps and 12.5 fps, these movies don"t encode to mpeg well cuz Mpegs either have to have a frame rate of 23.9/25/29.9fps. There are problems with the files haveing corrupted frames or bad header"s in them..The best movies to make svcd/vcd/dvd"s out of, are ones you either capture with good quality capture hardware, or i think is the best is movies you Rip off DVD, all you need for this is a DVD-Rom drive and some software, and I gues a few DVD"s to ripp and a pile of cheap CD-R"S....
