ASPI versions Hidden Bomb?

When reading Richs post on installing the usb multifunction card reader and its subsequent aspi installation which brought his system to its knees. I realised that I might be in for similar problems. On my W2000SP2 systems I use ezcd4.5 for burning SVCD *.CIF files from I-Author. To my knowledge this is the only way to burn I-A images. This only runs with aspi 4.6 one level behind current 4.7 Happily I installed nero 5.5x and it runs also. My question is how do I find out if a new program is going to install a different ASPI version as in Rich's case?
