I successfully burnt a 24 fps 720 x 480 SVCD using Nero 5.5.9.0 without the SVCD plugin. Since I didn't have the plugin, I'll get a pop window telling me that my SVCD mpeg is out of specs but giving me an option to go ahead I process it. I also do the menu but I had to cut the mpeg-2 into 10 chapter scenes. Nero's menu isn't that all great but the final product will play on my Apex DVD player with great results but not on my TDK VeloCD or Hitachi DVD drive. What I'm asking is that I want a menu like how Ulead DVD workshop makes but that program will force me to drop my 720 x 480 mpeg-2 to SVCD specs of 480 x 480. I really like to keep it at 720. Is there any programs that would give my like a timeline chapter menu but STILL burn my SVCD at 720? Cutting a mpeg-2 in many segments is very long as I use TMPGenc MPEG tools.
Don"t use the 720 by 480 resolution use the 704 by 480 resolution, then it will be much more compatible with different players and still keep the high resolution, the way you can burn a 704 by 480 svcd file with "Ulead dvd workshop" or "movie factory" you use a program called "DVD Patcher" to change the header of the 704 by 480 file to 480 by 480, then the authoring program will think the file is svcd compliant, you can even change the Bitrate header so the program thinks the bitrate is SVCD compliant also..This will usually work with most authoring programs ,the only problem might be that the menu"s will be 480 by 480 and the movie will be 704 by 480...if you use the "Ulead dvd plugin" with "Video Studio 6" it will let you author SVCD"s with 704 by 480 with no problem and have the proper resolution Menu"s..But it will not burn 720 by 480 cuz that resolution Cuz it see"s that as a DVD file and it sees 704 by 480 as a XSVCD file...
