Enterprise Season opener

Okay, somebody tell me that EP was all screwed up for the first part of the episode at their house like mine. Sigh.

Yes, it was my formerly super reliable cable system (a fine analogue fibre optic feed) that really screwed up. I hope I have better luck on the 2nd showing Sunday.

No it wasn't my ATI OR my ReplayTV (both were recording) I was watching live and saw the video glitch and then stutter and turn to a black screen a few times for minutes until later in the show.

Was it just me local? Or was it the full UPN feed? Just curious.

I'll check

Rich, mine looked fine on the TV...one caveat...I'm not sure if mine is super clean because I record over a 25 foot coax that needs replacing I think...I'll let you know.

I encoded at 10MB per sec though, and saw nothing bad on the tube.

stand by.

no UPN interference, but...

September 19 2002, 4:38 AM

I have a bit of analog interference from the nasty coax I'm using. Otherwise, it looks good, and may show well enough on TV, but I can see it (minor interference) on my computer screen.

UPN replays enterprise here again on Sat. night, and I think I'll try and work out the interference kinks before then, and try again.

I don't archive that much of enterprise...or really anything on a regular basis...maybe Buffy...but I certainly need to be able to do it cleanly!

more soon.

No problem where I live with the video of Enterprise last night, but the sound level dropped lower than normal a few times during the first half hour or so. We have all kinds of problems with UPN locally. It's easily the worst quality channel on my cable system and I've had sound problems before, had the picture vanish for brief periods of time and stuff like that. The feed we get is consistently so poor that I make no attempts to record it to SVCD or miniDVD. UPN reruns it on Saturday night at
10 PM in a lot of places, maybe where you live too, so you might try to re-record it then.

sound drop too

I got a very brief sound drop at the beginning too? It wasn't bad, but the local UPN dopes here in Memphis couldn't find their own butts with both hands!

cheers,

missed it myself

but I'm confident that they'll not only show that, but also the cliffhanger from last season as a two hour jobby sometime during reruns. I liked it well enough that I'll tape then.

Meanwhile encoding off of video looks as though it will do me for now. I intend to get a wireless system, but I am concerned that it may conflict with my 2.4 ghz wireless network.

cheers,
mark
