Help: How to avoid MMC capture spikes?September 22 2002 at 12:55 AM | Ohima (no login) |
| Hi, Rich & Co
Captured with AIW128 16MB a SVCD direct from DVD (DV-standalone) via s-video and digital-audio bracket.
Result is fine, Just FINE. But it should be CBR 2350 and there are spikes up to 3274. Yes I capture CBR.
Is there any way to avoid spikes in forehand or is there any simple tool to get rid of them (like wav-normalize) maybe some extra-smart render is needed.
Would like to backup my DVD to 3 CD-r and 2800 should be the top bitrate.
TIA Ohima
P.S. System is: BX-MB,W2k,P3-744, MMC7.6 (scared to upgrade a working system after a lot of unlucky recycle with that ATI-board) |

Rempeg was meant to do just that: decrease bitrate when it is higher then specified. |

You should try using MMC 7.7, or at least use the encoder from 7.7 with 7.6 (if you can't install 7.7).
You can copy the file atidvcr.dll from 7.7 over the 7.6 version. |

Hi, again
Tried Rempeg2 ver. 1.52 but it seems to support NTSC resolutions only. Crashed with strange resolution 352xThousands instead of my 480x576.
Gonna test that .dll trick because I have MMC7.7.0.1 on my other machine.
Thanx, Ohima |

Hi,
Just overcopied Atidvcr.dll (june 02) to atimultimedia/main and lowered bitrate to ~2300 and no more 'spikes' anymore. Bitrate stays now under 2800 although motionestimation is set to 99.
Maybe MMC7.6 didn't care CBR box at all and captured VBR. Wihout new atidvcr.dll 2350 CBR produced spikes up to 3700, huh.
Cheers, Ohima | |
