Help with TMGenc

I keep getting the message that avi is not supported in TMGE yet I know I have done dozens of movies in it. It says unrecognized file.
I know the file is good but to be sure I tried to redo one that I had done previously and got the same error message.

I installed the new SP1 on my XP windows and it took it down. I was able to repair windows and everything works now but TMGE I can't remember when it stopped working if it was after this or not.

Any help would be appreciated. I have a feeling that I am missing a code since another program gave me the error about the avi audio format. Yet I was able to do these files previously for a long time. I looked for DirectX and did the checking thing and it says it
is working It does not show iin the add/remove programs but all the dll's are there and the file folder.

What am I missing?

thanks for any advice, I am lost without this program.

a somewhat educated guess

Try the environmental settings in TMPGEnc. Its very counter intuitive, but if the appropriate codec (in this case AVI of some kind) has a low priority it can actually tell you it doesn't support the format.

In the environmental settings then, locate the codec you think appropriate, select it, and raise its priority.

That just might do it.

Does your avi play in media player?
If not it may be a missing codec.
Try reinstall te video codec you are using (perhaps DivX).

Yes it does play in all media programs and I did install the divx code as well as directx and also Nimeo codes. I just can't figure what the problem is. I uninstalled again and installed again and still it will not work.

I think it is fixed

If anyone else is having this problem with TMGenc try installing the Nimeo codes and move the priority of Direct show up to 2 and see if that will work.

I did this and am not converting an avi file to mpeg1 with no errors so far.
