What's the diff? 7.7 seems to hit all the targets... If it runs on Linux my erection will be visable in all 48 contiguous states!

No default Launch Bar - Yeah! TV did not install... huh?

September 28 2002, 2:19 AM

Just like an old bug - the fix was to copy a few win files into the TV directory. Well this time it did not work. The download has a TV directory, it installed files into a TV directory on my PC but... no TV Icon on the launch and none in the programm list. I'm way to tired to continue...

ATI themselves say this fixes no problems. Its only for Radeon 9000/9700 IIRC. A quick search for MMC 7.8 on Rage3d.com's forums should make it clear you are wasting your time with this download.

This is a simple case of modifying the "Setup.Ini" file. There's an entry that says

InstallTVPlayer=0

Change that into the obvious:

InstallTVPlayer=1

and run setup again.

In the INSTALL.INI file...

But you were just testing me of course...

Thanks - hit the nail on the head! Some says no changes (apart from the ones I reported above). Well thats OK, 7.6 and 7.7 has all I need. 7.8 will prevent those "what-if" that creep into my thoughts whenever something goes wrong.... "I wonder if they fixed this or that..."

Most of the time they didn't!!!

7.8 install loads 7.7 TV app

September 28 2002, 11:57 PM

Hahaha - dude was right. After 7.8 install, open TV app and get the 7.7 splash screen! they didn't even bother changing that! Certainly the code is identical.

ATI just wanted all us nerdy vid folk to visit the web site often.

But...

September 29 2002, 1:03 AM

...the 9000 & 9700 don't have a TV tuner... As far as I know, no new AIW card was announce to support the new 9X00 GPU.

So, its normal that the install program from the 9700 CD does not install the TV. I guess they just packaged the current TV along the rest of MMC.

A review also available on this site:

Cool, maybe I can now run Unreal Tournament 2003 decently AND do video capture in one card! (Now lets see the price...)
