I am new to this forum, first I want to say hi to everyone.

I have few questions, I am using CCE 2.66 SP Premiere Plugin to output my DV final cut movie clip from Premiere Timeline to mpeg1(Pal VCD), however the quality of the mpeg1 file is really bad. Do I have any way to improve it? I heard from someone says CCE 2.64 is better that CCE 2.66, is that true? Will there be any good Premiere Plugin Encoder is fast and good? I hope someone can help. Thank you very much.

CCE is not a Good Mpeg1 Encoder ,the company didnt even test the Mpeg1 encodeing before they released first the product..It"s there mostly fo show...the way to improove the Quality is to use something else to encode to mpeg1, or encode to mpeg2 in VCD resolutions then use Tmpgenc to put a VCD header on the Mpeg2 file and burn it as a VCD that way you get the Quality of Mpeg2 but playes as a Mpeg1...you can use the Premier video server plugin to frame serve to tmpgenc ..it"s a much better Mpeg1 encoder..

Your information is very useful, thank you very much. In fact, do you know where can I find a registration code for that plugin?

Which Plugin are you talking about???Tmpgenc isn"t a Plug in But a Stand alone application, and you would have to Frame serve from Premier useing the Video server Plugin, which I think Is free But I could be mistaken..Another Good Mpeg1 encoder for Premier is ProCoder but it is Expensive and hard to find...

Video Server

After I read your information, I try to search for Video Server Plugin, and now that is 0.951 trial version, only 30day limited. However, I will try to see what is the quality of the mpeg1 file.

Second, have you every heard about Mainconcept Mpeg encoder plugin for Adobe? Someone said the quality of the mpeg1 file is very good, is that true? Can you comment? Thank you.

It is not absolutely necessary to use a plugin (the plugin is to save time and even a bit of quality).
You can edit and finish your video in Premiere as an .avi.
Later you load the .avi into TMPGEnc and convert it to MPEG-1.
TMPEG is one of the best or mayby the best MPEG-1-encoder available.
If you re-ålay your MPEG-1 on computers only, you can improve the quality by improving the bitrate (max 2.000 kbs).
If you would like to test other software you should look for liaokai.myrice

yes accept you loose a lot of Quality rendering the file as an AVI in premier and loading it into Tmpgenc that is why he is useing the Video server...

Avi quality depends on the codec used for rendering, not frameserving. Depending on the codec used the losses are in the range of 0,1 to 1% for each generation. If smart-rendering is available (renders only the few edited parts of your video) the quality question is more or less an academic one. Frameserving itself does not influence on the quality!

The Panasonic 2.5 encoder is a strong contender for the best mpeg1 encoder. It's available as a standalone proggie or a Premiere plugin.

There are No truely lossless codecs unless you go Uncompressed..Even HuffuUv looses quality through RGB conversion, you can tell by the alaising on flat surfaces which it a Sign of loss through RGB conversion, and Mjpeg is defineately not lossless..So there will allways be some quality loss..
