I'm new here...Hello to all in the forum...

I need to know a couple things if possible...

#1...Does Rip and Copy mean the same thing?

#2. if so...How do you....Rip/Copy an SVCD that was made from a ripped DVD?...is this possible?

What I'm trying to do is get to the point that I can burn a copy of an SVCD...an exact replica..

Help if you can..if not from what I have said...educate if you can...

Thank You

SVCD's are regular CD's. Use any burning program, and perform a CD-Copy.

Rip - Means copying a DVD to the hard disk.
Copy - well.. it's copy.

Thanks again..its weird...I looked on the vcdhelp.com site and I see nothing regarding copying SVCD's....I am assuming this is not the norm...most are ripping DVD's right?....is that why there is little info. on taking a movie that someone else already ripped from a DVD and burned and then copying that?...Plz forgive any ignorance...I am doing research and I find that here is the best knowledge base thus far on these matters...So kudo's to you all

you wont find any guides on copying svcd's - because its just a simple cd-copy. Simply use the copy cd function in any cd-burningsoftware.

Ripping a dvd is different - this is where the guides come in. When you rip a DVD you want to do 2 things. The first is remove macrovision and encryption - this you do by using some software to rip the entire DVD to harddisk and in the process the software removes the encryption and the macrovision. Second if we talk svcd - you want to reencode the movie now ripped to harddisk to svcd-format. For this you use some other software and mpeg2 encoders. There are many many ways to do these 2 things and this is what you can find alot of guides on how to do.

Another Question....

November 5 2002, 12:28 AM

Thank You Again....let me ask you another question if I may....when I go to do a direct copy of my SVCD in Nero....I get 3 folders...why 3?...Do I have to copy all of them?..if so..how?...of course I am assuming that you are familiar with Nero...if not...do you know of a better Software program I can use to copy the SVCD?...

Thanks in advance for your time...
