Problem with SVCD subtitles

I use DVD2SVCD and play my SVCDs on a Phillips 723. Picture and Sound works great (2 streams). Unfortunately my subtitles crash after 3 minutes viewing them on TV. Turning them off and on again brings them back. What`s wrong with it ?

Do you know a svcd player that can display svcds produced with dvd2svcd properly ?
Or is it possible that the program WinSubMux 0.2.0.2 of DVD2SVCD's program collection doesn't work properly ?

thx berni

Update

Now some new things have come to light. First DVD2SVCD works perfectly, it's a real great tool. The player JVC XV-S300 can perfectly play SVCD, produced with DVD2SVCD, with all SVCD-features (up to 4 audio streams and up to 4 subtitles streams). Unfortunately the player has a very bad video quality, if you compare it for instance with the Philips DVD723, which has the best video- and audio-quality I`ve ever seen.

My conclusion: If you have problems with SVCD-subtitles, it's always a player problem. Player, that can play SVCD-subtitles are rather rare. It's a bit funny, that it especially all the Philips player seem to have problems with SVCD subtitles, although Philips itself invented the SVCD format: The 6xx series from Philips can't play SVCD-subtitles at all and the dvd723 from Philips can play subtitles just for about 3 minutes before the subtitles crash (firmware update didn't help).

Please write me your experiences, if you know any dvd-player, that has a high quality standard and can play SVCD with subtitles.
