VirtualDub: NO CAPTURE DEVICE with ATI AIW 128

Hi All!

I have the latest drivers for my ATI card with MMC 7.7
and Virtual Dub 1.4.10.

But when I try to capture a video from Virtual Dub it says, that I do not have any capture device.

I read somewhere that this is a know issue, and there is a solution to set it up properly.

Can somebody help me with that?

Thanks In Advance!

Regards,

Faith

No device problem

Uninstall ATI AIW 128 in device manager. Then delete ALL the files you fing in windows/system(32) ati*.*
Delete the inf file in windows\inf that has ATI AIW info (use your judgment here!)
I also deleted the windows supplied inf relating to this product (applies to xp)

Reboot machine. If you deleted the windows xp inf file then it will find only VGA, that is fine.

Install correct ATI drivers. Update WDM Capture for 7.7 to work (search for my thread on this)

Thx!

Thanks!

I am at my job now. At the evening I will try it.
I have W2K.

I hope when I will use virtual dub I will get synchronized video and sound, becouse when I am capturing using MMC with MJPEG coded the audio stream gets unsynchronized. Maybe is there any possibility to correct this in MMC?

MMC

I can not complain about the lipsync problem, as I never had it happening.
Sync depends on your soundcard (I found my Audigy works just fine)

Why do you use mjpeg codec in MMC?

MJPEG

November 11 2002, 9:21 AM

Becouse I am in Europe, PAL norm.
The best I shall real-time capture is MJPEG. Then I convert it to DivX 5.0.2.
I do not like SVCD format.
The ATI's vcr is great but I can not convert it to any other format.

Do You have a better idea?

I have SB Live 5.1 soundcard. I think it is OK. With another formats it is synchronized. Only with this MJPEG there is mistake. I hope when I will use Virtual Dub, then this would be ok.

Thanks

Faith

STILL NOT WORKING

November 12 2002, 12:18 AM

Hi Seb!

I uninstalled all the drivers and stuff as You mentioned.

After a reinstall it was impossible tu run MMC 7.7.0.1 again, I have MMC 7.6 now only!

But what is the main problem, in Virtual Dub it says I do not have any capture device!

I read somewhere, that it could be set up this problem for Virtual Dub somehow, but not with reinstalling.

I have installed this on W2K:

Codecs: wmfdist.exe
Driver: w2kr128513013279.exe
CONTROL-PANEL-6-13-10-3027-efg.exe
tv-capture-wdm-6-13-10-6125v5.exe
MMC-7-7-0-1-noDVD.exe
dvd-7-6.exe
tv-capture-wdm-6-13-10-6125v5.exe
MMC-7-6-noDVD.exe

And I still do not have the capture feature in Virtual Dub.

What to try next?

if the card is a "BT8*8" Card then don"t use the ATI drivers, try the genaric WDM Drivers found at "http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/" they work great with V-Dub but you won"t be able to use MMC anymore...i don"t like it anyways ...It is very limiting..and the ATI Drivers aren"t compatible with very many programs accept the ati software...

MMC 7.7

November 12 2002, 12:58 AM

And personally I think MMC 7.7 is teh best software for watching TV. It has some limitations with recording, but this last version is very great.

About ATI drivers, yes I have ATI card, and I have lots of problems with this in the last 3 years!

Hi,

Straight to forest maybe, but what about ATI vfw_to_wdm wrapper?
Can't You really select no video in virtualdub capture-mode ?
Usually there is
0 Microsoft wdm image capture (win32) and
1 Hauppauge or similar vfw if you have extra pci-card

BTW what audiocard You have and do You have WDM-driver for it too?

Happy hunting

!!! SUCCESS !!!

November 13 2002, 12:31 AM

Hi All!

Yes it is working very-very well now!
I installed first the VfW to WDM wrapper
/*
http://shopgeo.virtualave.net/wrapper.zip
or
http://www.geocities.com/tvwonder2001/vfw2wdm.zip
*/
Then it was working fine!
Then I reinstalled the new VirtualDub 1.4.11
and then the Sound Synchronizing one!
/*
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1_4_11.zip

http://www-user.rhrk.uni-kl.de/~dittrich/sync/

http://www-user.rhrk.uni-kl.de/~dittrich/sync/VirtualDub-1_4_11__sync1_03/VirtualDub-1_4_11__sync1_03.zip
*/

Everything is working fine NOW!!!!

Thank You very much for all of Your helps!

Regards,

Faith

There is no need to put in the sound syncing V-Dub Cuz the regular V-Dub does EXACTLY the same thing to keep sync..It adjusts the sample rate while captureing to preserve sync..So I"m quite confused as to Why someone would write a Plugin for a feature that is allready built into V-Dub..well I guess this gives you the option to set the Audio buffers size..
