What are you talking about?
What is that you want to do & where there is no video?
Try to be a LITTLE bit more clear

Sorry it was getting late

November 30 2002, 5:14 AM

I had been using a 30 day trial version of Tmpgnc that seems to have worked very well with all my AVI files. After about 20 days now all that would can be output is audio and no video. Now all I get is unable to open file. I tried the TMPGenc site and ZDnet but it seems there download server is not responding.
Thanks

sorry again

November 30 2002, 6:39 AM

sorry for all the problems, here is what I have concluded after many hours of frustration with Tmpgenc.
I had been running version 2.54 sucessfully with premere and pinnacle avi. files. about last week I downloaded there 2.59 version and did not try it until last night. The work window is now black for any avi file but, it will encode minus the video. I have not been able to find the old (2.54) version to try out. It seems they have only the newer version 2.59 available. Any help would be appreciated, or is there another good encoder out there ?

Thanks

Try this

There is nothing wrong with TmpegEnc 2.59.xxx version.
Can you play the avi file in WMP 6.4?
If so then Tmpeg will be able to see video as well.

Also check in Environmental SAettings/VFApi plugin that DirectShow is reset to recommended settings (right click on it) and have Tmpegenc registered to VFApi

Tried both of these fixes but no change. They were already in the position you suggested.
Yes all my avi's play every time on Windows player as well as quick time and power dvd. I am useing avi's
from Premere 6 and Pinnacle studio 8. The funny thing is that microsoft movie maker avi. does show up and encode every time. I just get a black work window and can encode sound.

I have also installed the TMPgenc now two new times with the same results.

THanks any suggestions ?

Well you Can use a Different Encoder...Tmpgenc is Buggy at the best of times and there are better encoders out there these days that are much faster and produce better Quality,Like MainConcept or CCE..

Not what you want to hear

As always suggested by tech support around. You can always re-install Windoze & I give my head it will work then.

What type is your avi? I or II

Thanks a bunch- I used your suggestion ( sort of )and now everything works perfect. I unchecked everthing in enviormental settings except direct show and did not reset recommended settings. TMPGenc will now encode everthing I try.
My question now is before I buy TMPGenc should I try CCE and mainconcept ? What is your opinion please. Where is there site I did not find it in ZDnet downloads.

Thanks Fred

Well Main Concept Is Definately just as good in Quality and it is 3 times as fast but it is also 3 times as Expensive..CCE is only good if you are doing Mpeg2/SVCD/DVD and you basicly have to frame serve with it But it is the fastest and will give the best Mpeg2 quality when useing Clean Sources, but it also costs $2000...But all of these encoders can be found for free....
