SVCD not recognized

I have got following problem. When creating an SVCD with Nero 5.5.5.10, everthing seems to be ok, except the fact that the CD-R is only reccgnized by the recorder (Tevion MD9898 = ACER CRW 620). Even my Toshiba SDM1612 DVD-drive cannot detect the finished CD-R, nor any other CD-drive. When burning regular CDs (audio, data), there is no problem, all of the created CDs are perfect. I tried to burn the MPEG2 file not as SVCD but as a regular data file => result is good, means all the DVD- or CD-Rom drives recognize the file and the CD. My PC is a PIII 866Mhz with 128MB RAM, 20GB HD. Up to now I also never had buffer underrun problems, or other recorder related problems. The latest firmware is on the recorder. According to the manufacturers side the recorder supports DAO. The MPEG2 files are created with the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-card. Afterwards I am demultiplex and multiplex the file with TMPEnc. As I mentioned the file can be played with WINDVD (if recorded as MPEG2 in a regular data CD), but not if recorded as SVCD. As mentioned the whole CD seems to be unknown for the drive. Strange, isnīt it? Does anyone has any idea about whatīs the root cause for this problem?

Multiplex the Video with MPlex from TSCV.
Let TSCV also produce a BIN/CUE-Image.
Burn the Image with CDRDAO or NERO.

You may not be doing anything wrong. Toshiba DVD players
are infamous for NOT supporting CD-R and CD-RW media.
That may not be true on current models, but it definitely
was true in the past. In fact, I heard from a guy who
told me that his Toshiba wouldn't play VCD on any media,
not even commercial ones, and when he called Toshiba,
they admitted the player didn't support it. Also, some
players don't support SVCD at all or require the use
of the MPEGAV subdirectory instead of the MPEG2
subdirectory for the video. I suggest you go to
http://www.vcdhelp.com and see what the DVD Player
Compatibility List says about your player. They also
have guides on making SVCDs if you think you may have
done something wrong. I bet it's an issue with your
player not supporting CD-R.
