Hi I dont know if anyone can help me with this problem.I edited some dv from my sony camera in premiere then converted it to Pal then burned it as an svcd in nero.
It played perfect in my ntsc standalone dvd player which is an apex even though it was a pal format but I sent it to my sister in the Netherlands they use pal and it pauses continuously while it is playing in their standalone player which is a philips 701.
Any suggestion to settings regarding maybe bitrate to get it to play in Europe.
Thanks
Your Problem is that you didn"t convert it to Pal Properly..Doing Pal NTSC Conversions is Very difficult and can not be done properly with Premier or Tmpgenc or pretty much any program unless the Program is specificly made for Pal Ntsc conversions..A few Programs that can do it are Advanced NTSC Pal Converter,Canopus ProCoder, and Canopus Format Converter...it can also be done manually by changeing the Framerate of the AVI file then useing a Audio editor like Cool Edit or Sound forge to stretch or shrink the audio to the exact length of the video...
Hi thanks for the input but I used Canopus pro coder to convert it to pal it plays perfect frame rate and audio in the pal player but its just that it pauses every once in a while so I dont think that is the problem you suggested

It"s Just that you are getting the exact same effect you get when the Conversion isn"t done very well..If you want You can e-mail me and I can send you another program that does NTSC/Pal Conversions, that is if you want to try it...I just don"t know of anything that can give this effect accept Maybe haveing the Incorrect field order which is a Problem that is notorius with the first version of Procoder,or Burning the Disk on to high of a Speed can cause Jumpy playback, and so can Bitrate spikes...Just a Thought...

Hi thanks again for a reply but I came across two different forums with these suggestions for Philips dvd players.
"PHILIPS DVD players only play discs with a TOTAL bitrate of MAXIMAL 2650. With TOTAL I mean Video plus Audio. So 2400 Video plus 224 Audio does work. 2500 + 192 does NOT work and gives hickups. (so real SVCD standards)"
"It is a good DVD-Player, but the max bitrate of SVCD is 2300 video + 128 audio. And it doesn't support CDVD
try memorex cd
BTW; On Doom9's forum I also read that in case of MPEG1 (xVCD) the limit is even lower (1374 (1150+224)) for PHILIPS. And the only way to get around that is remuxing it to MPEG2/XSVCD...."
Procoder's default for pal was set at 2787 total so I will first try to burn it again at a lower bitrate and see how that works out the only thing is I wont know for about 2 weeks because thats how long it takes the disk to reach the Netherlands.
So does anybody have a way that I can test a pal disk on the computer it worked perfect before using windvd so Im looking for a program that would only support pal for testing.
Thanks again
