I downloaded some avi movies online.
the file sizes range between 700MB - 750MB
I'am trying to do a conversion from AVI to SVCD using tmpgenc newest version. I followed the tutorials on www.vcdhelp.com to guide me along at first the encoded worked ok. Then one day I tried it again and all I get was errors.
I use virtual dub to rip the audio from the avi into a seperate file which works great. I then load up tmpgenc and select my avi and the audio file and my output target location to save the conversion once it is done. I click on source range to drag slider to about half way to split my movie into 2 parts while dragging slider to set my start and end points I get a error stating "Invalid Pointer Operation" I then ingnore this and continue on to the part where I click the option to start the encoding and bang before the encoding starts another error stating "write error occured at address blah blah of module NTDLL.DLL with 00000000.
anyone know how to fix this?
or suggest another conversion software that can do what I need
thanks
I can be emailed at vipe86@hotmail.com just in case I dont get the chance to check the posts.
i had a similar problem
try this...
open up TMPGEnc...go to options, then enviromental proerties, then click the VFAPI tab, then prioritise direct show multimedia file reader to 1.
worked for me.
I tried exactly that before and it wouldnt work for kept getting same errors...and I'am desperate to get these movies converted and tmpgenc wont work.
can anyone put me on to another program that will work
I tried www.vcdhelp.com
with no avail becuase thei links there are way out of date and most links there dont even give ya a demo to try.
This error Is Quite Common with Files that are Corrupted in some way, Downloaded Files get corrupted Easily From being downloaded Repeatedly..There isn"t much you can do eaccept you can try to use V-Dub to make a Copy of the file which might fix any errors in the header and filter out Corrupted Frames, or you can try Frameserveing the file to tmpgenc with V-Dub or AVISynth....
The last post has a point. There is a way that may fix the problem, but you must remember that it cannot recreate the damaged parts of the AVI file.
From virtualDub, select "Open Video File" and make sure you check the "Popup extended open options" in the file open dialog of VirtualDub. In the "Import Optins" dialog, check the "Re-derive keyframe flags". This way, VirtualDub will fix the sructure of the AVI file. You can now frameserve, or better still, check the "Video" -> "Direct Stream Copy", and make a good copy of the movie. You can then work on this copy.
