Whats the difference if I select MPEG-1 and capture @ 480x480, 2.3 mbps, VBR compared to the same set up except select this time I select MPEG-2 (in MMC 7.1)?
If I run both of them through TMPGenc to make SVCD compliant will there be any difference?
Strange enough, in MMC7.1, I unchecked deinterlace (so this means to capture interlaced) and it does capture like this to mpeg-1 file. After editing and running through TMPGenc it comes out SVCD compliant.
Sorry, did not see that you use MMC7.1. 7.1 does not handle interlaced capture very well so you better capture with deinterlace option. SVCD can be non-interlaced as interlaced but mpeg1 and VCD is only non-interlaced. Anyway SVCD is only mpeg2 not mpeg1 and VCD is only mpeg1.

I have since upgraded to MMC 7.6 and what a world of difference! I wish I would have started capturing with this version a long time ago. Much better MPEG-2 captures.
