Wrong region means that the Disk was intended for use in a Different Region...There are Different Region Codes on Retail DVD"s and Different Parts of the World have there own Region Codes and if you DVD Player is set up to read say Region One DVD"s and you Put a Region Two DVD in it will Not Read it..There are Hacks for some Players that will make your DVD Player Region Free so it will accept DVD"s from all region Codes..But I don"t know why your DVD Player is getting this Problem off of a DVD-R?? seems a Bit wierd..

It may be that your Apex doesn't like Maxell DVD-Rs. I have a couple of older Apex models and it seems that most Apex models have "issues" with recordable DVD. I know that DVD+-RW don't work at all and there may be problems with specific brands of DVD-R. You might go to http://www.vcdhelp.com and look at the DVD Player Compatibility List and see if any DVD-R specific problems are known for your player. Most brands of DVD-R seem to work with Apex players, but maybe Maxell is an exception. The "wrong region" message is most likely a false error message, unless you are copying a DVD from another region and dvdxcopy is keeping the same region on the copy. If you think that might be the case, there might be an option to change the DVD copy to no region. Do some research on the web on regions and find out what region you live in. It's region 1 in the USA/Canada, region 2 in Western Europe, region 4 in Australia. Your DVD should have a number code on it that tells the region. If your DVD is the right region for your player, the error message is probably trying to tell you it can't play the disc and the "wrong region" is just a default error message when it doesn't know what else to say.
