I've got an mpeg-2 file which I made a SVCD with using "Nero". However for some reason when I play it on my DVD player the image is cut about 1/2 an inch on all four sides.

Can someone please give me some advice on how to correct this problem.

Well you didn"t give us much information to go on..Like How did you make this Mpeg2 file?? and did Nero do the Encodeing ??? and the Resolution and aspect Ratio of the source file???

I've done a search of this forum and it seems that my problem is something called "overscan" to do with all TV sets.

Can someone please explain to me in very simple terms how to get around this. I'm not very experienced with computers you see!!!

However, if your SVCDs are interlaced, resizing them can result in jagged edges. If you deinterlace them, you get worse motion clarity on your TV. Personally I don't consider overscan a big problem. The cure is often worse than the disease.
