SVCD_Cannot understand what is wrong - pls HELP

Got a whole bunch of movies on SVCD. Person who gave them to me says there are OK.
I try to play'em with Zoom Player 2.90, WinMediaplayer 9.00.2980 and Real Player with the same result - progam freezes, but the light on CDROM blinks. Tried to wait for 20 minutes - as the result they all give me error message.
What should I do?
Thanx

Have you ever been able to play SVCD? Typically this requires a MPEG-2 codec to be loaded, which is most easily done by loading a software DVD player of some kind (WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.). Go to the MPEG2 directory on
one of the SVCDs. Is there a file called AVISEQ01.MPG? If not, you don't have a valid SVCD. Can your friend play the discs? If so, get your friend to tell you how he plays them and do the same.

Some Programs have problems playing SVCD/VCD"s Directly from the Disk so what you can do is Navigate into the Disk to the "Mpegav" folder and drag and drop the "AVSEQ01.MPG" file to your Desk top and Double Click it, then it should play fine ,that is if you have a Mpeg2 codec but you are better off useing something like "Power DVD" to watch cuz Media Player doesn"t have a Deinterlace filter which is needed on a Progressive display Monitor to play interlaced material without getting Major artifacts...
