Since ATI MMC 8.1 does not allow "custom" record settings to be used for timed recordings (I'm stuck with four, crude templates - none of which serve my needs). I'm hoping somebody familiar with ATI AIW/MMC folder/registry layout has discovered a way to either: 1) restore the "custom" option for timed recordings ( like MMC 7.7 has) or
2) edit the ATI-standard templates.
Of the templates available in the timed recording wizard, "DVD" is closest to serving my needs, but that danged 8 Mbps bit rate is waaaaay too high - especially since MMC 8.1 is capable of gorgeous MPG2 at 4.2 Mbps! If someone knows how I can edit the ATI-supplied templates, I'd be extremely grateful.
It's one heck of a curious omission! MMC 7.7 had the "custom" setting available. Why on earth did they remove it in 8.1? The fact that it lacks this no-brain feature is the only thing preventing MMC 8.1 from being the perfect solution for two-step "record and burn" time-shifting. Nutty!

If you click on Map Preset you can edit the default templates or make new ones. That way the four standard templates can be replaced with new or edited templates. Unfortunately, on my system they're no longer mapped after rebooting. The new or edited templates are still available, but I have to 'remap' them.
