Umm, I don"t Know Much about DVD2SVCD Becuse I like to Do the encodeing set up Manually instead of letting s GUI program do it all For me But I do know that Usually Chapters are Put into the File By the authoring Program Not the Encoder..If you are Useing something like "VCDEasy" it can put Chapters into the File and Most Authoring Programs that are at least Half descent (Accept Nero) will let you Put in Chapter points were you want but I have never heard of DVD2SVCD Doing Chapters..Whay don"t you get an Authoring Program and Put in your Chapters and that way you can put in Menu"s and Titles even if you want cuz there isn"t much use Haveing Chapters without Menu"s...

Lusifer, you mean "except Nero", not "accept Nero". You are correct. My guess is that the original poster is burning with Nero. It is impossible to have "chapter stops" (technically, the correct term is "entry points" for VCD/SVCD, just FYI) if you burn with Nero. If you set up DVD2SVCD to produce chapter stops, then it's a problem with your burner, which almost certainly is Nero. You can burn with CDRDAO which is free (http://www.vcdeasy.org should have it), but it won't work with all burners. You could buy something designed specifically to burn BIN/CUE files like FireBurner and other programs. If ever wanted to make a VCD/SVCD with chapter stops, I had to burn it with FireBurner. You can burn BIN/CUE files with Nero, but guess what? If you do it, you won't have any chapter stops.
A few times I made SVCD with subtitles. If I burned the BIN/CUE image with anything, Nero, FireBurner, whatever, my DVD player would refuse to play the subtitles. If I used Nero to burn it, but did not burn the BIN/CUE file but the final MPEG-2 file using the SVCD template, subtitles worked fine. I think this had more to do with DVD player than anything else, but I mention it as something that could happen to other people. Basically, I could either have subtitles or chapter stops in my SVCDs, but I could not have both.

I too like to make a SVCD manually, but i wanted to try out DVD2SVCD. As for menus i think there a useless waste of space on the disc. The reason why chapters are nice is because simetimes you want to get to a point in the film that you missed or maybe you want to show some1 else. Gettting 30min into a SVCD and then stopping it by accident or maybe falling asleep and then waking up. Then you have to fast forward for 20hours getting back to the damn spot where u were...i hate that. So anyway, i not only have Nero i also have CDR-win. But thats not where chapters or enrty are made. It's in the editing somewhere. In fact i know i can make them in TMPEG in the tools section but i wanted to save time and simply keep the chapters from the DVD. I know it's possible because i have SVCDs that do but were made from other people.

Alright then, later-

Chapters are NOT made durring editing, They are allmost allways Made durring the Authoring Proscess, and some encoders can add them while encodeing But Tmpgenc is NOT One of them, all you can do in Tmpgenc is Force Certain Frames to be "I" Frames (Force Frame Type Setting) but this does not make them Chapter Points just Potential Chapter Points, If you are Makeing a SVCD from a DVD and you want the exact same Chapters in the SVCD as they are in the DVD then there are a Few ways to do that But I usually look at the text file were the VOB files were extracted and it has all of the Chapter Information in it and you can Copy and Paste the Frame numbers for the chapter Points into VCDEasy which will put chapters at those Spots, or you Can add them Manually with Other Programs and there are other Programs for getting Chapters for a DVD(Chapter Extracter)..And Menu"s aren"t really a waste of space as they Take up an extremely Small amount of space, like a Couple KB...
