Ahem, the question is, basically, if a DVD project can be burnt on a CD with a CD-burner? Like it's a DVD but smaller?
I know software lets you do it and, in fact, the result does play in the software player, but not in my living room player.
I'm successfully burning SVCD's but the problem with those is that for some reason (maybe, it's my own stupidity) I can't make the menues any alive. It only would show me the buttons, animated background and buttons even, but I can't move across them with the remote's arros. Neither in the standalone player nor in the software one.
DVDs seem to work just as I need them to, but my Pioneer 454 spits them out. I might not be getting the compression properties right - is that it, or is there some principle difference and it's like "only VCD and SVCD go on a CD"?

That is Correct,You can only put(X)VCD"s and(X)SVCD"s on a CD-R and Have it play on your DVD Player, the DVD Player first checks if it is a DVD Or a CD-R and once it sees that it is a CD-R and that the Files aren"t configured to be VCD or SVCD then it Just spits it out..DVD on a CD-R is called MiniDVD very Few Players will Play them, Mine will But I have to Use 704+480 and I have to use the Remote to Search through the Folder to find the Mpeg file to Play it..I do not see why the Buttons aren"t working on the Menu"s with your SVCD"s, Are you sure that you are configureing the Bottons correctly in your SVCD Authoring Program?? I know I have had Problems before configureing the Buttons useing Ulead DVD Workshop 1.3 but a Good read of the Manual solved that Problem, Or maybe you just need to try a Different Authoring Program to make the Menu"s?....Good Luck
