Hello,

I just finished DL the CENTROPY version of this movie. Works fine in media player but can't burn to VCD/SVCD. The file format is invalid, "TAR." What do I need to do in order to be able to burn to a VCD/SVCD.

I currently use NERO. I know TAR is a type of compression but all I want to to convert to MPEG and then burn the file. Anyone have any ideas?

I don"t know Much about Tar Files But I Know that "WinRar" can extract Tar Files, So Use WinRar to extract the File from the Tar file and I"m sure that it is either a AVI or Mpeg file inside the Tar file...

"tar" is not a compression format. tar is an old standard UNIX archiving format. It actually comes from "Tape ARchive". You will need a PC version of tar to un-tar it or as Lusifer said Winrar, which apparently understands the format. tar actually does padding when it archives, so it offers no compression, but certain UNIX compression programs such as "compress" or "gzip" can be used on a tar archive to achieve better compression rates than you typically find with things such as zip files. Those who understand UNIX might be interested in the Cygwin toolkit at http://www.cygwin.com. It's free and has just about every UNIX program you'd want ported to Windoze.

How come it works fine in media player if the files aren't unpacked? I think it may be possible just to rename the file to .mpg. Maybe it's like when you download mp3's on some sites they rename them to something else just to hide "illegal" files on their servers...

centropy

a Centropy copy is going to be rather marginal quality wise...watcheable, but no more.

You may find that a waste of time for a movie that is more visual than anything else. Later on you'll probably find a screener version ripped from a DVD, and that might be worth it.

I'd see it in the theatre if I were you regardless of how you fare with your download.

good luck
