Region free DVD questions

I'm brand new here. I have several region free DVDs that my 3 1/2 year old RCA RC5220P DVD player can't read. My booklet says the player only plays region 1 and even says it won't play CDRs. The DVDs (concert bootlegs) aren't silver but colors. I don't know if they're VCDs, DVDr, or whatever. My question is what DVD player can I get that will play them? My DVD player was cleaned, the discs are spotless.

To see a list of DVD players that play VCD, SVCD...etc, go to:
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

I would recommend getting an APEX DVD player. These guys are cheap and play almost anything.

Take Care,

You need to find out what kind of discs you have. Windows can give the size of disc, which would help. Anything less than 1 GB is CD-R of some type. Anything greater is DVD. You might have DVD-R or DVD+R. Older players such as yours are known for having problems with burnable DVD.

Search on player capabilities on dvdrhelp.com.
I found your player here:

Seems to have problems with burned CD discs but it may be able to play burned DVD discs. It may read certain brands of CD-RW. Can you play your disc in a computer? If it's a CD-R then try copy it to CD-RW.
