i am recording video streams from VHS to my panny E50 dvd recorder on RAM-disc. put the RAM-disk in my PC panny ram drive and copy the .vro-files on harddisc. then i do chapter editing with TMPG DVD Author (yes, this can read .vro-files!). everything great.
but as the TMPG DVD does not prewiew with sound it is impossible to find exactly where to put chapter marks in concert videos, as there is no chance to know, where there is no announcment between the songs.
would be great to preview the clip in windows movie maker with sound, get the exact time code of the desired chapter mark (like 01:23:17:03) and put this time code manualy in DVD Author. would be perfect.
BUT: the movie maker does not accept .vro files! when you rename them to .m2p or .mpg it loads and then freezes.
The strange thing is, THAT IT WORKED ONCE and then NEVER AGAIN without system changes!! i don't know what is going on.

Since I don"t Know much about "VRO" files I guess they are a Form of Mpeg2 or VOB file, Have you tried De-Muxing the VRO Files to a Real Mpeg files then useing a Program to find the Time codes?? I know that With a Lot of the Editing Tools I use I can Preview the Mpeg files with sound and then stop them were I want and see the Time code, You should be able to do it with an Mpeg2 file Player Maybe even Media Player, Just a Thought??

You could also use Panasonix's DVD Movie Album, which comes with most of it's burners ( like my LF D321 )You can export files recorded on your E50 to .mpg files on your HDD. Then use whatever editor/authoring software you want. That's how I do it with my E30.
yeah, the panasonix DVD Movie Album would be a good idea! but i do not have it, i bought my RAM drive second hand. has anybody a link, where to download it or can somebody email it (if it is not too big) to

I am trying to determine If the Multi bundled package that comes with the Panasonic 5XX burner which has dvd Movie album 3le and B's Gold 5 and other utilities can be used with the 321 burner. It looks like they put a lot of effort into going both ways from and to the RAM setop recorder/player. I would like to take the edited mpeg2 and write it DVD-ram in VR format to play on desktop unit. I have seen negative comments on B's so I am reluctant to Install it. Tim have you had a chance to test the computer to Setop path yet?

Capt..... Yes, I've tried, but with no success. Perhaps a newer version of the software is needed. The only files I can put onto DVD-RAM ( for viewing in my E30 ) are DV-AVI files. Movie Album then encodes them to .mpg ( software encode )and allows you to write them to RAM. It won't take .mpg files though, at least not the version I have. Maybe your version will, since mine is only the SE version that came with my LF-D321.
Harry....I'm pretty sure you can get it from Panasonic, although I don't have a link, sorry.
