TMPGEnc encoding question

I am an avid TMPGEnc user. But, I have noticed somthing when encoding mpeg2 files that is irratating:
When the SVCD or DVD has 1 sec left of encoding, it seems that TMPGEnc keeps doing somthing for another 10 mins or so before it actually finishes. Nothing appears in the preview window, but my HDD is still working away. Anyone else notice this or know what its doing? Perhaps its cleaing up some tmp files or maybe multiplexing?
Whatever its doing, its too bad it doesnt incorporate that extra 10 mins into its total time so I dont get all excited when I see 1 sec left and I have to sit and anxiously wait at my computer for another 10 mins

Thanks
gammer

Re: TMPGEnc encoding question

This is Because at the end of encodeing all of the frames Tmpgenc has to then write the header and the Sequence end Code on the File, the Longer the Movie is the longer it will take to do the finishing touches on the Mpeg file..But if this is the Biggest problem you are heveing with Tmpgenc then consider yourself Lucky....Cheers

TmpgEnc Plus 2.5

June 21 2003, 1:00 AM

I have an TmpgEnc encoding question too. I have been using DVD2SVCD and for SVCD I use CCE 2.5, works great and overnight two .bin .cue files are waiting. But I tried to use TmpgEnc to make a VCD, it looked like it encoded it but, I did not get any .bin .cue files. The VCDXBuild did not generate the .bin .cue files. I got the following error.
**ERROR: parsing file `C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\VCDXBU~1.XML' failed
Does VCDXBuild have a problem with TmpgEnc files?

I have the two bbmpeg_Muxed_File00.mpg, and bbmpeg_Muxed_File01.mpg files. I also have the Encoded_Video_TmpgEnc_NTSC.mpv and Extracted_audio_1.ac3. I muxed the two TmpgEnc files and got an .mpg file using TmpgEnc, and that file plays on WinDVD just great. I can cut the files into two in VCD form but, the file like that is too big(about 790mb) for Nero to burn as vcd. I know Nero burns 814mb .bin files. I there a quick way to change the files into .bin .cue ? any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Your problem is that you are useing the Wrong Audio format for VCD, you can"t use AC3 for VCD"s Plus your DVD player will probably not Play it, You will have to use something like "Headac3he" to Encode the AC3 to MP2 audio and then Mux That file with the M2v file..

TmpgEnc Problem

June 21 2003, 9:33 AM

When I used TmpgEnc, I did the setup according to a setup guide I saw in www.mrbass.org/dvd2svcd/vcd, which makes vcds DVD2SVCD v1.0.9 or later, I have ver 1.1.3. I guess, there is some switch that will change the ac3 to MP2 audio ? One more thing. I did not use the free TmpgEnc that came with dvd2svcd, I used the TmpgEnc Plus 2.5, the latest version v2.513.53.162. It will be nice to resolve the issue in the dvd2svcd in the auto mode, if I can. Thanks

Luisifer you are wrong. Programs like besweet accepts ac3 to be used by vcds.

Sory Jason But I am Not Wrong, No were in the VCD specification does it allow for AC3 being the Audio format, Not For VCD and Not For SVCD and Besweet does Not Make VCD"s, Besweet is a Audio encoder and Being an Audio encoder Of cource it accepts AC3 Files as it can encode AC3 files to Mpeg audio(And other Formats) for use with VCD, it also encodes to AC3 but not for makeing VCD"s.....

Nero should not have any problems with burning 790 MB vcd compatible mpeg1 as VCD if you use 80 min CD-R. You can fit up to 800 MB on a VCD and a little bit more if you enable overburning.

I have only used DVD2SVCD to produce SVCD. Normally DVD2SVCD should take care of everything including ac3 conversion and muxing. Have you tried the following method on the guide you linked too?

"easiest way is: Misc. tab | Load Settings | and choose VCD-Settings.ini
go to Bitrate tab | Use default and voila. "

Burning VCD with NERO

June 24 2003, 12:10 PM

Back to the TmpgEnc Encoding. When it is an Mpeg-1 file, you have to use the VCD Templet in NERO. When the MPEG-1 file is 795mb, nero says not enough space, use another media. But when the file is in .Bin form up to 810mb files can be burned using NERO. Most of my SVCD files are about that size. So far SVCDs made with CC 2.5sp (DVD2SVCD) burn fine. Now the question is, how to get .bin .cue files from TmpgEnc? I used BeSweet to convert the AC3 audio to mp2, then I multiplexed using TmpgEnc. Now the MPEG-1 file should be VCD compatible, right? How to convert MPEG-1 to .bin .cue ?

You CANT Get Bin/Cue from Tmpgenc, Tmpgenc is a Mpeg encoder Not a Burning Program and doesn"t make Image Files..All you have to Do is take the Mpeg1 file made By tmpgenc and Load it into Nero in VCD mode and Burn it to disk, and if it says it is a Bit to big then Enable OverBurning in the Advanced settings and set it to 82 minutes this way it will try to burn up to 820mb on a CD...A Bin/Cue file is a Image File made usually by a Burning Program and For VCD"s it is Just a Disk image of the VCD, If you want to make a Bin-Cue File then you can use VCDEasy to make a Bin/Cue file......

You are of course right Lusifer. By the way, I'm not the same "Jason" who posted earlier. I'm the forum regular. I may have to start using a new name if this keeps up...
The overburning suggestion should solve Babu's problem. I just wanted to point out that VCDeasy is now only available as a severely crippled free version and a $15 shareware version with no restrictions. The author is seriously pissed off at receiving very few donations for his effort and seeing his program bundled without his permission in some of the cheap DVD to VCD solutions that spammers advertise, so he changed the program so that you have to pay for it if you want it to be useful. No one can seriously use the "free" version any more with all the severe restrictions it has. Of course if you have an old free version, that will continue to work, you just can't update it for free.
